. . . when the song wants to break free — I let it loose . . .

I have always carried the songs and the stories with me.

From the days when I sat on the stool beside my grandmother learning my first folk tunes, to later finding my own path between traditional kveding and classical singing, I’ve been driven by the joy of sharing the stories that live within the music.

To me, folk singing is about people: about lives lived — about courage, hard work, and longing. About those who stood by the fjord and looked outward, or stood in a new world and looked homeward. When I sing and tell these stories, I feel as if I become a bridge between their voices and the people listening today.

That is what makes this work my life’s calling — and a gift.
